Kelly L. Rothwell, 35, of Indian Rocks Beach, Florida, was last seen at about 3:30 p.m. on Saturday March 12,2011. She had lunch with a friend at a restaurant in Pinellas County, FL. An investigation began on Sunday when another friend asked deputies to check on Rothwell at the condo she shared with her boyfriend, 46-year-old David Perry. The friend was concerned for Rothwell’s safety due to “domestic issues” and a volatile relationship.
Kelly was reportedly heading from that lunch to the Indian Rocks Beach condo to end her relationship with David Perry. She planned to move out and leave Perry. No one has ever seen her alive since.
Rothwell, who had not returned repeated calls to her cell phone from friends and relatives, did not show up for class Monday at the Pinellas Police Academy in St. Petersburg, where she was at the top of her class as a police cadet. Since starting the program in November, she had not missed a single day.
Perry, who is a retired corrections officer, has since traveled to New York, but is refusing to talk to police. He is currently under investigation.
Kelly’s abandoned car, a green 2007 Subaru Outback, was found on Sunday March 13, 2011 about two miles away from the condo.
